March for Diversity

Today was my first protest. I feel like a grad student!

In all seriousness, this morning several hundred Baylor University students from all different backgrounds came together to support diversity on the Baylor campus. In response to the outrageous news of what happened on campus the night of November 4th, students have come together to say that this is not what BU students stand for.

My friday morning class met on the steps of Waco Hall this morning as a large group of students came together. It was absolutely amazing! As the silent march continued, we visited the spot where the noose was found and actually heard from the students who were involved. Armed with definitions and pictures of lynching, the African American students on campus graciously shared how they were affected by the images.

What an amazing opportunity to show the community of Waco that BU students do not condone this behavior and that we refuse to sit back and let racism continue on this campus!

What a great way to wake up and spend the Friday morning!
