I survived my first hurricane!!!!

Well, I don't know that I would say survived - it was really a non-event here in Waco. Let me start at the beginning.

It all started on Thursday when I made mad dashes around town to make sure I had batteries, food, water, dog food, etc. I really wasn't that worried about the storm until Thursday when it was predicted to hit Waco head on. Therefore, I made my trip to Wal-Mart to stock up. I made plans to make red beans and rice (comfort food) so I began soaking beans - ready to eat and watch the storm.

Friday night after JD and I went to eat we came home to watch religiously the hurricane coverage, making plans for the wind and rain. We stayed up til about 1 watching the coverage, expecting to be scared out of bed by the storm that was sure to hit around 6. At 10, when I woke up, there was no rain, no wind, and definitely no hurricane.

Saturday we watched and waited for that one rain ban that would put Waco on the weather channel only to be disappointed all day. Don't get me wrong, we got rain, but nothing like we expected.

I guess the point is that I was a little excited about my first hurricane, but it turned out to be a dud - there's always next year!
